Admin Color Schemes

Create a custom admin color scheme that applies your brand colors throughout the entire WordPress dashboard. Set primary and secondary colors that affect the admin bar, menus, buttons, links, and form elements.

Use Cases

  • Assign different color schemes to team roles for quick visual identification
  • Create a custom dark or warm color scheme for editors who work late hours

How It Works

  1. Configure your primary and secondary brand colors
  2. Save the module settings
  3. Go to Users → Your Profile
  4. Select “Switchboard Custom” from the Admin Color Scheme dropdown
  5. Your custom colors now apply across the entire admin interface

FAQ

Why do I need to select the color scheme in my profile?WordPress allows each user to choose their own admin color scheme. By requiring manual activation, team members can stick with the default colors if they prefer, while others use your custom brand colors.
Can I create multiple custom color schemes? This module creates one custom color scheme. For multiple schemes, you’d need to manually switch the colors in settings. Each user can only have one active scheme at a time.
Do the colors apply to all users?Colors only apply to users who select “Switchboard Custom” in their profile. Each user controls their own color scheme preference.
The colors aren’t showing. What’s wrong?Make sure you’ve selected “Switchboard Custom” in your user profile under Users → Your Profile → Admin Color Scheme. The colors won’t apply until you activate the scheme.
Can I match my theme’s exact brand colors?Use a color picker tool or your brand guidelines to get the exact hex codes. The color inputs accept any valid hex color (#RRGGBB format).

For the best results, choose a primary color for branding impact and a slightly darker secondary color for hover states and accents. This creates visual depth and hierarchy.
