Admin Menu Manager

Take full control of the WordPress admin sidebar menu. Reorder items with drag-and-drop, rename labels, swap icons, add visual separators and spacers, soft-hide items under a collapsible “Show All” toggle, hard-hide items completely, and control visibility per role or per user — all from a single drag-and-drop interface.

How It Works

  1. Navigate to Switchboard > Menu Manager in the admin sidebar
  2. Drag-and-drop menu items to reorder them
  3. Click a label to rename it inline
  4. Click the icon button to pick a new dashicon
  5. Use the eye icon to soft-hide (collapsible “Show All” toggle) or the block icon to hard-hide completely
  6. Use “Hide from” dropdown to restrict visibility by role
  7. Use the user icon button to restrict visibility for specific users
  8. Add separators or spacers from the quick actions panel
  9. Click “Save Changes” to apply

Features

Drag-and-Drop Reorder

Rearrange the entire admin menu by dragging items into the order you want. Changes apply to all users unless overridden by visibility rules.

Rename Labels

Click any menu item label to edit it inline. Useful for clarifying confusing plugin names or localizing labels for your team.

Icon Picker

Replace any menu item icon with a different dashicon. Search through available icons in the built-in picker.

Soft Hide

Move items to the “Soft Hidden” zone. They collapse under a “Show All” toggle at the bottom of the sidebar — accessible but out of the way.

Hard Hide

Move items to the “Hard Hidden” zone. They disappear completely from the sidebar for all users.

Role-Based Visibility

Use the “Hide from” dropdown on each menu item to select which roles should not see it. Multiple roles can be selected.

Per-User Visibility

Use the user icon button on each menu item to search for and select specific users who should not see it. Users appear as removable chips.

Separators & Spacers

Add visual separator lines or blank spacers between menu groups for better organization. Drag them into position like regular items.

Settings

This module has its own dedicated page at Switchboard > Menu Manager with a full visual interface. No traditional settings panel — everything is managed through the drag-and-drop UI.
