Separator Appearance

Separators are styled with:

  • Subtle semi-transparent white line
  • 8px vertical margin
  • Clean, minimal appearance
  • Works in both expanded and collapsed (folded) menu states

Verification

After saving your separator configuration:

  1. Look at the admin sidebar menu
  2. Verify separators appear at your chosen positions
  3. Test the collapsed/folded menu view
  4. Confirm separators don’t interfere with menu functionality

FAQ

Can I add labels to separators? This module adds visual line separators only. For labeled sections, you’d need custom CSS or a different approach. The separators provide visual grouping without text labels.
Will separators persist after plugin updates?Yes. Separator positions are stored in your database, not in plugin files. They persist through all updates.
Do separators affect menu functionality? No. Separators are purely visual dividers. All menu items remain clickable and functional.
What happens if I install a new plugin?New plugin menu items appear in their default positions. You can add new separators around them by updating your separator configuration.
Can different users have different separators? No, separator configuration applies to all admin users. Everyone sees the same visual organization.

Combine with Admin Menu Organizer to first reorder your menu items, then add separators to create the perfect menu structure.

Best Practices

  1. Don’t overuse separators - Too many divisions defeat the purpose
  2. Group logically - Put related items between separators
  3. Consider your users - Think about what groupings make sense for your team
  4. Test the folded menu - Verify separators look good when menu is collapsed
  5. Document your structure - Note your separator placements in site documentation
