Enhance List Tables

Supercharge your admin list tables with additional columns. See featured images, excerpts, word counts, last modified dates, author emails, and page templates—all without opening individual posts.

Use Cases

  • Speed up bulk editing by viewing more information per row
  • Distinguish content at a glance with thumbnail previews
  • Track word counts across hundreds of posts for content audits

How It Works

  1. Select which post types to enhance
  2. Choose which columns to add
  3. Configure excerpt length if using excerpts
  4. Save and view your enhanced list tables

FAQ

Can I reorder the columns?Columns appear in a fixed order: ID first (if enabled), then Image before Title, then others after default columns. For full column control, use the Admin Columns Manager module.
Why is word count showing 0?Empty posts or posts with only shortcodes/blocks may show 0. The count is based on visible text content after stripping HTML tags.
Does this work with WooCommerce products?Yes! Add “Products” to your selected post types. Product descriptions will show in the excerpt column, and product images in the thumbnail.
Can I sort by all columns?Only ID, Word Count, and Last Modified are sortable. Other columns (Image, Excerpt, Email, Template) are display-only.
Will this slow down my admin?Minimal impact. Thumbnails are already generated by WordPress. Word counts require reading post content, which may add slight delay on large sites.

Combine with Compact Tables to see more rows per screen while still having all these extra columns visible.

Column Visibility

Use Screen Options (top-right of list tables) to temporarily hide columns you’ve enabled. Your settings determine which columns are available; Screen Options controls visibility per-session.
