- SEO plugin settings typically take priority
- Test to confirm which takes precedence on your site
FAQ
Why isn’t my image showing on Facebook?
Facebook caches images aggressively. Use the Facebook Debugger to clear the cache. Click “Scrape Again” to refresh. What if I use an SEO plugin too?
Both can coexist. SEO plugins typically only set OG images for posts with featured images. This module catches the rest. Test sharing a page without a featured image to confirm. Can I set different default images for different post types?
This module uses one global default. For post-type-specific images, use an SEO plugin’s advanced settings or custom code. Why is my image cropped strangely?
Different platforms crop images differently. Use the recommended 1200×630 size and keep important content in the center third of the image.Do I need this if all my posts have featured images?
It’s still valuable for archive pages, category pages, tag pages, and any other pages that can be shared but don’t have featured images.Create a branded template image in your design software. It should look good standalone and represent your brand even when the page content varies.
After changing your OG image, social platforms will continue showing the old image until their cache expires. Use their debugging tools to force a refresh.
