Coming Soon Page

Display a stunning coming soon page while your site is under construction. Collect email subscribers, show a countdown to launch, display social links—all while you work on your site behind the scenes.

Use Cases

  • Show a professional page while building a new website
  • Collect email addresses from interested visitors before launch
  • Display social media links to build your audience early
  • Create anticipation with a countdown to your launch date
  • Maintain brand presence during development

Where to Find It

Configure your coming soon page in the Switchboard module settings. When enabled, visitors see the coming soon page while administrators access the site normally.

How It Works

  1. Enable Coming Soon Mode in module settings
  2. Customize the title, message, colors, and images
  3. Set your launch date for the countdown timer
  4. Optionally enable email subscription collection
  5. Visitors see the coming soon page; admins see the regular site

The Coming Soon Page

Your generated page includes:

  • Responsive design that looks great on all devices
  • Animated entrance with smooth fade-in effect
  • Your logo or a default rocket icon
  • Custom headline and message with beautiful typography
  • Countdown timer showing days, hours, minutes, seconds
  • Email subscription form (optional)
  • Social media links (optional)

Countdown Timer

Set a launch date to display a live countdown:

  1. Enter your expected launch date and time
  2. The countdown updates every second
  3. When countdown reaches zero, it displays “We’re Live!”

Set a realistic launch date with buffer time. Visitors appreciate knowing when to check back, but it’s better to finish early than miss your deadline.

Email Subscriptions

Collect visitor emails to announce your launch:

  1. Enable “Show Email Subscription Form”
  2. Visitors enter their email and click “Notify Me”
  3. Emails are stored in your WordPress database
  4. View and export subscribers from the settings panel

Managing Subscribers

In the module settings, you’ll find:

  • Total subscriber count
  • List of all collected emails
  • “Copy All” button to export emails for your email marketing platform

Design Customization

Colors

The page uses white text that works well on most backgrounds:

  • Background Color: The main page background (when using solid color)

Background Options

Choose between:

Solid Color:

  • Clean, fast-loading design
  • Pick any color with the color picker
  • Professional look that works with any logo

Background Image:

  • Full-page cover image
  • Automatic dark overlay for text readability
  • Great for lifestyle brands and visual impact

Upload your logo for instant brand recognition:

  • Displays prominently above the headline
  • Recommended size: 280px wide maximum
  • Supports all image formats

Add links to build your social following before launch:

  • Facebook: Your page URL
  • Twitter/X: Your profile URL
  • Instagram: Your profile URL
  • LinkedIn: Your company page URL

Only filled-in links display on the page.

Admin Access

Administrators can always access the real site:

  • Log into WordPress normally
  • Browse your site to test and develop
  • The coming soon page only shows to logged-out visitors

An admin bar notice reminds you when Coming Soon Mode is active:

🚀 Coming Soon Mode Active

Switching to Maintenance Mode

Coming Soon is for pre-launch. Once your site is live and you need to do maintenance, use the Maintenance Mode module instead—it has a different message and style appropriate for existing sites.

FAQ

Can logged-in editors see the real site?Only administrators bypass the coming soon page by default. Other user roles (editors, authors) see the coming soon page like regular visitors.
What happens when the countdown ends? The countdown displays “We’re Live!” but the coming soon page remains active. You must manually disable Coming Soon Mode when you’re ready to launch.
Can I preview the page while logged in?Open an incognito/private browser window, or log out temporarily to see exactly what visitors see.
How do I export my email subscribers? In the settings panel, scroll to Email Subscriptions and click “Copy All”. Then paste into your email marketing service (Mailchimp, ConvertKit, etc.).
Does this affect SEO?The coming soon page shows visitors a holding page while you build your site. For extended periods, search engines may reduce crawl frequency until the site launches.
Can I use custom HTML or CSS?The page uses the built-in design system. For advanced customization, you could use the Code Snippets Manager to inject additional CSS, though it won’t affect the coming soon page directly.
